Rent RIte are classes now available!
If you've had a hard time getting into rental housing, are curious about your credit and how to repair it, and/or want to learn more about fair housing in RI, then this class is for you!
The Housing Network of Rhode Island (HNRI) has developed a new FREE class series designed to help people get and keep rental housing. The HNRI has partnered with community development corporations like us all around the state by training AmeriCorps members serving under the Accessing Home Initiative to teach the Rent RIte classes. This year Kristine Pearson, our Resident Services Coordinator, is teaching our classes.
Some of the topics covered in the Rent RIte classes are:
-
How to apply for rental housing
-
What a lease really means
-
The importance of good credit, and how to repair yours
-
Tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities
-
How to resolve conflicts with your neighbors
-
Fair housing laws
The class meets for 2 hours a week for 2 consecutive weeks, from 5:00-7:00pm on Tuesday evenings in the conference room at Church Community Housing Corporation, 50 Washington Square, Newport RI, 02840. Registration is required.
