HISTORY
Church Community Housing Corporation (CCHC) was formed in 1969 as a grassroots effort to improve housing conditions and increase the housing supply for low and moderate-income residents of Newport County. It is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Over the past 39 years, CCHC has developed a large community base by successfully working with residents of Newport County, as well as local agencies, municipal, state and federal officials. CCHC has strived to build and maintain a track record of public/private partnerships. The Corporation's goals and achievements have been synonymous with the production of affordable housing and community development.
CCHC is governed by a twenty member volunteer Board of Directors with representatives from each of the six communities in Newport County. 33% of our Directors represent the low and moderate income community. CCHC has been designated a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Rhode Island Housing has designated CCHC as the leading Housing Office for Newport County. CCHC's employees specialize in housing development, property management, housing rehabilitation and community development projects.
